Senses Fail - Let It Enfold You

Review by Jocelyn as part of The New York Pulse

Keeping a typically pop-punk sound, Senses Fail show us they can take the sound they made popular in NJ's local scene and take it all the way to mainstream stardom. The lead single "Buried A Lie" (I assume it's a play on the phrase buried alive) best exemplifies what their debut major label, Let It Enfold You, is all about: 3 cords, infidelities, and broken hearts.

The band worked with Saves the Day producer, Steve Evetts, but that doesn't show. Unlike Saves the Day, at times it seems like the "dark" parts are somewhat contrived and the screaming could be left out completely at other times. Maybe song titles like "Martini Kiss" and "You're Cute When You Scream" lay the cards out a little too early.

But the guys try hard and do a decent job at it. For a group of 19-year-olds I guess one can't expect too much. Plus, this is only their first real album. They have a lot to learn, and with time and life experience they could make more mature albums and have a very successful career at it. Keep up the good work, guys!
