Having matured their sound from previous release 'Mucho Mojo Baby', The Smoking Rolo Sideshow are here again to blend styles, throw all manner of instruments in your ears and perhaps even provoke a thought or two with well thought lyrics. 'One: The Protagonist Reflects Upon Days Of Zero Cool' serenades the listener with finely crafted words. ''Well, guess who's going straight to Hell. I'm well aware the answer's all of us.'' Mr Greener is really slapping out the Isaac Brock-esque word play. Cracking a few smiles and raising a some eyebrows. 'Amidst Foreign Shores' sees a change in vocalist gender and an addition that all musicians should take note of. A Deadwood sound clip! Al Swearengen's wise words adding a touch of crude class to the finger clicking track.
Darker skies are visible on the horizon. 'As In Uffish Thought' is soothing yet unsettling spoken piece with some brilliant bass and guitar cementing the mood of the track. The bass-tacular 'Dig' will have many lining up some Kyuss tunes to follow. Eyelids will fall and brain fog will set in.
Like some kind of cheese-wine hybrid, The Sideshow have matured more than an automatic maturing machine. Album number three is clearly something to get excited about.
