Echoes Fall  - Ignite the Fury

review by Rob S  - added 26/02/2010

Though billed as a deathcore act, Echoes Fall do in fact have more going for them than just an ability to churn out more breakdowns than Toyota and the services of a vocalist who sounds like he gargles with razorblades (though aforesaid elements are in fact present and correct on debut EP ‘Ignite The Fury’). Hailing from Ipswich, or In their own words ‘The Cesspool sometimes known as Ipswich’ , this five piece bring the off-the-hook energy and dynamism of thrash, Swedish style melodic riffs and some deft horror movie dramatics to the table; think As I Lay Dying tussling with Despised Icon while Killswitch Engage lay into them with baseball bats, if you will. Complete with blastbeats and some ominous atmospheric touches, the four tracks (or three tracks and intro if you want to be pedantic) show more promise than you might think from a brief outline, the title track and ‘Confessions Of A Self Righteous Mind’ in particular set to kick up a storm in a live environment… you might need body armour to come out of these guys’ pit unscathed. Consider yourselves warned.
