Knievel Genius  - Down With The Fairies

review by Rob S  - added 26/02/2010

There’s no getting around it. No matter how much we love experimental and progressive craziness of all varieties, (more than you might think) there’s a gap in our musical palate that can only be sated by a sackload of ear battering riffage and incessantly catchy melody... step up Knievel Genius. New single ‘Down With The Fairies’ may be impossible to boot out your head, but by no means are we in All American Rejects territory here, god forbid; this is one memorable chorus that won’t have you reaching for the chisel. Chuck in a punky, raw-as-Sashimi*edge, some deliciously barbed guitar riffs and an altogether more brooding companion piece in the form of B-side ‘Houdini Pt. 1,’ and you’ve got yourself a pretty essential listen.

* Note: those unsure on the terminology of Japanese cuisine are referred to Wikipedia, ta.
