Slowly opening up like a track from 'The Eye of Every Storm', then erupting into something from 'The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place' and finally blowing everyone away with an 'Enter'-esque finish. Yes, 'Lander' is nothing short of (the much over used word) epic. Thedealwasforthediamond play post-rock and if they haven't the nail on the head influence-wise then Scott Kelly isn't from Oakland (...he is). Thankfully it doesn't stop at 'Lander', 'Grey Cells' even drops some prog into the mix; pushing the melodic and easy to zone out to sound into something far more atmospheric. Hard, punishing and sinister is the vibe surrounding this six minute and twelve second beauty. No faults are to be seen, only a revoltingly strong craving to hear more.
