Doll and the Kicks  - Live - Brighton Audio

review by Rob S  - added 13/03/2010

From 6/3/2010

An entirely Brightonian bill has drawn a capacity crowd to the city’s subterranean Audio venue this evening, a selection of hometown talent dragging a diverse audience away from the Saturday night clubs and into one of the plushest basements in town. First to hit the stage are alt-pop quintet Rob The Rich, emerging in a swirl of quirky instrumentation and joyful eccentricity. Genuinely likeable, the irrepressibly upbeat combo’s energy and sunny demeanour goes some way to compensating for a certain lack of depth, instrument swapping and multi-percussive segments helping to hold the audience’s attention fairly well for the majority of their set.
