Blackwater James  - Self-titled

review by Amy  - added 06/04/2010

Let me introduce you to a brilliant band named Blackwater James and their self-titled album. Chris, Deanna, Josh and Todd make up this American rock four piece - they're gritty, fierce and awesome, with a load of great American rock 'n' roll songs blended together. They remind me very much of AC/DC and Metallica; massive riffs and a pinch of charm. The edginess from the 80s can definitely be heard all the way through their record, and I reckon the stand out tracks are 'Roses & Rain' and 'Midnight Train'. The recording of the album took place in Nashville, USA, growing in popularity since it was released on April 10th 2009. They've got the tempo right, they've got the structure right, and they play well together, but that is what you'd expect of any band. I kind of get the feeling that they aren't quite fulfilling their potential to be a bit more different from the norm, but I'm sure we'll get a taste of their best song writing in the near future! Check out their Myspace page at www.myspace.com/blackwaterjames.
