Hertfordshire metallers Glass Artery have promise, bundles of it. Drawing both from the annals of classic NWOBHM guitar wizardry and the earthen grooves of the 21st Century’s metal overlords, the quintet benefit from their decision to go slightly further than simply aping Killswitch and the like, each track topped with a mix of cloud-piercing melody and razor sharp riffage that has already begun to turn heads in the UK. The aptly titled ‘Against The Grain’ and final stomper ‘Leave It To Me’ show a degree of songwriting intelligence behind the six string driven sturm und drang, but we’ll have to wait and see if the formula wears thin over the course of a full length. Whatever the future holds, in the here and now this is very decent mosh pit material with thought and genuine feeling, that promises to go down a storm in a live environment.
