Anzi Destruction  - High Clash Motherf***er Album

review by Ana Leary  - added 08/08/2011

Once again Finland is responsible for bringing us a great musician. This time I’m going to tell you about Anzi Destruction: musician, composer and producer. As you can imagine, Trent Reznor has made several disciples overseas and Anzi can be taken as one of them for sure.

Part of the Rock scene since the 90’s Anzi has been a member of the Plastic Trees (1999) and former frontman of the Stereo Junks! (2003-2010) and now on his solo act – released in 4th April 2011- he greets us with an album filled with a unique combination of Industrial and Alternative Rock  under a real Punk Rock attitude. He’s also have headlined some festivals in Finland like the TrashFest’s 2008/2009/2010 editions and Guilfest Festival 2011 in the UK.

Playing most of the instruments himself, Anzi Destruction also takes on the production, composition and mixing on “High Clash MotherF***er” a work done at his domain: the Chemistry Farm studios, a 200 hundred y/o barn in the heart of a Finnish Forest. This album also counts some special contributions from Rory Winston (lyrics), V for Violence/Salvation’s Mr. Kunt and Private Line’s Elias Lógren both on drums.

Now, follows some comments about Anzi Destruction’s “High Clash MotherF***er”. Have fun !

01-Psychosis #7: instrumental track featuring unique Industrial Rock inspired sounds.

02- Jaded and Destroyed: great song. The vocals in it remind a bit Billy Idol. Nice guitars and drums too.

03-Dead Goddess: this one has a real post punk vibe. Fast guitar playing and drums, great bass. Nice way Anzi explores some vocal’s tunes fitting perfectly to the song structure.

04-Electric: great song. The highlights go to the bass and vocals that has a little of Groove Armada’s sounding.

05-Chemistry: Nice song. Great performing.

06-Sissy Crawls: this one has a Hard Rock vibe and sounding. Great melody and strings. Highlights go to the killer guitar solos !!

07-Blank Junk World: nice song with a great work on synths, guitars and drums.

08-Million Clowns: another great song. Well performed as the previous with use of simple guitar scales that have been wisely explored.

09-In Fire You’ll Drain: Nice song. Great harmonics, guitar and synths. On this one the vocals have surprised me once more due to another tuning.

10-Ready to Fall: another track with a Hard Rock vibe. Great drums and harmonics in it.

11-Suicide Angels: Great Punk and Hard Rock styles fusion. The drums are fast and rhythmical, nice guitar fast picks and drops, amazing vocals.

12-Live before you Die: amazing start withharmonica playing. Amazing melody, drums, bass and guitar. The vocals are also really impressive too.

Additional Comments on High Clash MotherF***er:

High Clash MotherF***er is a very consistent album. It’s pretty easy to listen to and from it's opening sounds it’s clear all the styles influence and the mix between them. Anzi Destruction has done a marvellous job combining his instrumental technique with a competent production in an album that is simply innovating and daredevil.

The album has loads of passion and feeling not to mention a great combination of experimentation with old school elements like for example on “Live Before You Die”.

And finally, Anzi Destruction’s High Clash MotherF***er is, without a doubt, certain of giving great entertainment and great music.
