Tiger Please  - Seasons

review by Rob S  - added 08/05/2010

Displaying a maturity and assurance that so many spend years struggling to attain and that others never do, Welsh five piece Tiger Please must rank among the UK’s most preternaturally impressive acts. ‘Seasons’, the band’s second EP, is an immaculately crafted and moving work, a concise and memorable exploration of an internal and external world that could easily have descended into farce in the wrong hands; this is a sub-twenty minute concept record, assembled with a deft, delicate touch that threatens to leave certain more established acts’ recent efforts in the shade. Frontman Leon Stanford gives a charismatic vocal performance, unafraid to present fragility but bringing a paint-stripping growl to the table in more up tempo moments, while dual guitarists Luc Morris and Tyla Campbell provide a melodic, hard edged six-string backing. Some sterling work from the rhythm section and a charmingly naturalistic production job courtesy of Romesh ‘Midas’ Dogangoda later and you have a release that can only bring more plaudits to this young band. Do your heart and your head a favour and grab this record as soon as humanly possible.
