Draw me Stories  - Oars & Becomes The Hunted EP

review by Ana Leary  - added 04/06/2011

Coming from Cardiff, Draw me Stories makes a very melodical Alternative/Progressive Rock with touches of Folk. Their music is filled with rhythm, harmonic guitars and a very funky bass. The lineup is formed by Carl Hodgetts (vocals/guitar/mandolin), Mathieu Albasser (bass/glockenspiel) and Samuel Souter (drums).

Besides the double A side "Oars & Becomes The Hunted" – whose review you’ll be able to read in here – their discography includes also: The Sky and The Mirror EP,The Unplugged Sessions and The Plugged Sessions where you’ll definitely be very pleased by the great  melodies from the band.

Now, let’s get some more about “Oars & Becomes The Hunted” released in 18th April through the label Glasstone Records.

1.Oars:great arrangements. Somehow at the very first sounds it makes you think in some surf music, something that rapidly changes into their unique essence which is filled with folk elements and an incredible vocals. Great bass, extremely rhythmical drums and guitars’ full of soul.

2. Becomes The Hunted: great drums, at first it reminds something closer to the very first moments of Placebo. Great guitar base and melodic vocals. Very relaxing song with a competent performing.

3. Oars (You Love Her Coz She’s Dead Remix): It’s that kind of remix that abuses on effects, somehow I guess it had altered part of the harmonic in the vocals but even though it’s a good trck.

 4. Becomes the Hunted (Tex Taiwan Remix): great remix. It has used the song structure on a dynamic and clever electronic mix featuring several 80’s influences.
