The Ora  - Tonight EP

review by Ross K  - added 07/05/2011

The Ora are a three piece rock band from Liverpool, they are brothers Liam (vocals & guitar) and Sean (vocals & bass) along with Lee (drums). They are set to release their first studio effort, an EP entitled Tonight later this year along with a UK tour in October.

The Tonight EP is comprised of three tracks and the first "Heartstring" is an upbeat indie pop-rock song complete with an infectious chorus and vocal harmonies that are reminscent of Elbow.

"I'm Blue" is a more mellow affair which has the guitar part harmonized with the backing vocals throughout the intro and choruses. It is the stand out track from this EP.

Winding up the EP is "Free", this is where their pop influences shine through the most with the track sounding almost like Scouting For Girls except with guitars.

The Ora have a very commercial sound which will no doubt endear them to the masses, the only problem I can find with Tonight is that there is nothing new here, but that's not always a bad thing.
