Third Way Forward are a hard band to pigeon hole, the best way to describe them would be gritty pop-punk, there certainly aren’t any falsities here. After having come across this band back in July 09 it’s plain to see that Third Way Forward have progressed both in terms of live quality and establishing their place in the local music scene. At times during the opening slot of the night, the vocals were slightly sharp although let it be known that you can definitely count on this band for a sing along chorus. Despite Third Way Forward delivering a solid performance tonight, the genres they play are a challenge to succeed in due to the heavily saturated nature of them. It would serve them well to gain a ‘je ne sais quoi’, or in English, that certain edge that will makes them stand above the rest and attract active rather than complacent audiences. However they shouldn’t ponder that thought too much as it’s evident that Third Way Forward have a clear idea of the direction they want to head in with their music and the ambition to get there. They’ll soon be rising up running orders across the areas venues just as fellow Birmingham bands on the bill tonight (namely Maycomb, LYU and All Or Nothing) have done during their time on the scene.
