Black Bart  - CD - Black Bart

review by Mark  - added 29/08/2010

Holding what starts off as a very Weezer-esque alt-rock sound, 'Broken Like a Mirror' opens up to hold some old time charm. The Crazy Horse influence is everywhere in this track, and it's wonderful. The American rock adoration is more than apparent, but the music doesn't suffer for it. There are no forced accents and other such things. The sound is delightfully natural.

'Town to Town' contains a very warming feeling. It's a rare thing to hear such a young band telling a tale like this. The album lasts for twelve glorious tracks. Simon Stanley-Ward's honest vocals really are a pushing point.

No more need be said. If you have even a mild love for Young, Cash or Dylan, buy this glorious debut.
