Rev 78  - Could Have Been a Dancer

review by Rob S  - added 20/08/2009

Equal parts contemplative and tuneful, while demonstrating a notable knack for a catchy hook, ‘Could Have Been a Dancer,’ the second single from London based indie troubadours Rev 78 streams seductively from the stereo, replete with heart-rending lyrics, delicately chiming guitars and solid rhythms. Evoking a melancholic atmosphere of broken dreams and doomed love, the track is likely to gain favourable comparisons to many of their eminent forebears, not least to the moving vocal delivery of Ian Curtis and understated drive of Interpol. It displays heaps of promise, an impressive professionalism, and an enigmatic musical presence that belies their status as relative newcomers... Keep an eye on this lot.
