Tenet  - Sovereign

Tenet have been in the works for quite some time. Originally a project of Jed Simon (ex-Strapping Young Lad, currently with Zimmers Hole), the instrumental demos have been loitering around on the internet for a fair few months. With numerous line up changes before the album was even finished, the future of Tenet seemed uncertain. Sovereign was eventually unleashed and the it was well worth the wait. With the line up now consisting of both Byron Stroud and Gene Hoglan of Strapping Young Lad and ex-Exodus front man, Steve 'Zetro' Souza, you know this album won't be gathering dust on your shelf any time soon. Many will be pleased to know that with the combination of such talents, no one member is going to overshadow another. Saying that, Hoglan's drumming is fucking destructive as ever. Jaws will drop. Standing only at nine tracks Sovereign wastes no time assaulting the ears. 'Unnameable' is easily the stand out track, allowing all members to show off their skill. 'Indulge Me', 'Sovereign' and 'Watching You Burn' are also brilliant songs to drink to. Souza wails, Stroud thunders, Hoglan pummels and Simon does what he does best. You can't ask for more from an album like this.

Sovereign is by no means ground breaking, but fans of heavy music need to listen to this at least once. More material and a tour is desired.
