Riot:Noise  - Fight The People

review by Rob S  - added 29/12/2009

Bristolian five piece Riot:Noise have only been together since mid-2007, but upon first listen to their new EP ‘Fight The People’ you’d be pretty damned unlikely to guess ... Serving up four slabs of sleazy, unadulterated hard rock fury, this lot hold forth with the conviction and musicianship characteristic of a far more seasoned act, rounded off with a bellyful of youthful fire. ‘Never Wrong,’ ‘Save This,’ ‘Dead Behind the Eyes’ and ‘One Chance’ combined summon up enough riff power to strike your Cliff Richard loving grandma dead at fifty paces, with plenty of air guitar inducing fretboard gymnastics and cocksure vocal lines marking the band as a far more interesting prospect than the glorified Led Zep/DC tribute act that, on paper, they might seem akin to, a role that far too many young bands fall into these days. Unfortunately, due to the constraints of the reviewing medium this piece inevitably is ‘on paper,’ (metaphorically in most cases if you’re reading from a PC, but that’s by the by,) and so to fully appreciate whether Riot:Noise could be your new favourite band you’re just gonna have to take a listen to the EP; trust me though, lest this whole review degenerate into pointless logical doodles, these guys have something that ensures your fifteen minutes investigation could be worth your while, and far more. Above all this is bucketloads of fun, and in 2009/10 that’s nothing to be sniffed at.
