Occasional Rascuedos - 3 Days at Garstang Airport
Review by Aneequa
I didn’t know quite what to expect when this CD came through my door, but as the intro to the first song ‘Strolling FM’ kicked in hard with the guitar riffs and drums I definitely wanted to hear more and as the lyrics started coming I was still interested but somewhere in the middle I actually forgot I was listening to it..
‘Holiday in Pilling’, track 2 starts off quite slow but starts kicking in somewhere in the middle and is the most chilled out track on the CD but at the end of the song a scary voice starts talking about turnips, scarecrows and mashed potatoes. Despite this, after a couple of listens I actually really liked this song.
The best song was definitely saved for last in ‘Payday Blues’. Whereas I could have quite easily fallen asleep lounging around listening to the first three, this is definitely the most upbeat and has the most catchy lyrics in ‘I got the payday blues’.
The press release that came with this CD promised that they were a humorous band- I’m not quite sure I picked up on this from the songs so perhaps you have to go to a live show to get the full experience!
The Occasional Rascuedos play ‘funky bluesy rock’, and as obviously talented musicians they do it well but there is a tendency to lose interest towards the end of each song, however if you’re looking for something different to the usual generic pop punk/emo that is around at the moment, check it out!
Alan Goldspume- Bass and Vocals
Vince Winkle- Guitar and Vocals
Stu York- Drums
Chico Do Rito- Guitar and Vocals
