McQueen - Like I care/ You leave me dead
Review by Ellen
Vocals - Leah Duors
Drums- Haley Cramer
Guitars- Cat de Casanove
Bass & backing vocals- Hattie Williams
The female Brighton quartet formed in the late part of 2003. Since then
they
have been playing live shows across the U.K. Their EP "Like I care/
You
leave me dead" released 1st November, is an upfront in-your-face intro
to
all four girls. The vocals thrown out by lead singer Leah Duors
resembles
that of Courtney Love and Gwen Stephanie fused together, hence
equalling
Brody Armstrong from the Distillers. The two songs are exactly what you
would hope to find in an all-girl rock band and more. Full of
provocative
and enraging lyrics, they have got the sleaze of Guns'n'Roses, but with
the
sassy, glamourous looks to go with it. Full of funk and rock attitude,
they
are a band who can rock to any level. Their use of Nirvana-esque chord
combinations and unsettled passion, they have already been labelled as
the
"female Foo Fighters".
The band have already been on tour 3 times,
having
supported other brit rockers 'Holiday plan' on one of them. McQueen
are
looking forward to getting their sound heard amongst an even bigger
audience. They are currently working on their first album, which is
currently untitled.
McQueen are a band who are determind not to let their gender and age
pose
any threat and are ready to take on any of the competition which
surrounds
them in this industry. They are basically a cool band to listen to with
great material, nothing much else to say apart from they simply rock!
You can go to hmv online and order a copy of their EP now or visit
