What have Army of Freshmen been up to recently?
We've been on the most amazing tour of the UK ever with our friends, Bowling For Soup! Nearly all the shows were sold out and we truly had the time of our lives. We've got a couple solo shows left and then it's back home to Cali.
How many times have you been to the UK? How is it different to touring in America?
This is our second trip. Last year around the same time we came over with The Littlest Man Band which is a Reel Big Fish side project and our friends from Cali, The Suburban Legends for very small tour. It's completely different in terms of touring the states. In the states the gigs are so far away from each other- over here the longest drive maybe like 6 or 7 hours which is nothing in the states. Plus I enjoy the crowds here much more- there's still a special vibe attached to a going to a concert (gig as you say), people anticipate them more and therefore tend to get a lot crazier. Not too mention everyone here drinks at such a young age. A brilliant policy as far as we're concerned.
Your EP 'At the End of the Day' was produced by Bowling for Soup's Jaret Reddick. Is it something you'd like to do again?
Hell yeah! We're in talks right now for him to produce our next record and he's the guy we really want to do it. We worked so well together in the studio and we think he's really helped take our songs to the next level. Plus he's one of the funniest and nicest guys you ever want to meet.
What kind of music are you into at the moment?
We listen to all sorts but right now on this trip personally I have been rocking Mc Lars' ep, my old stand by Tom Waits, lots of Bowling For Soup and a lot of chill acoustic stuff to go to sleep to. Kai's been rocking the new Thrice and Let Go. Dan has mainly been reading but he's been rocking Midtown when not into a book.
What has been your highlight of 2005 so far?
By far this UK tour. To be able to come over here and play for so many people is just amazing. We've gotten great reaction and great reviews on the ep so far. To be on tour with other bands your friends is just the cherry on top.
What has the band got planned after this UK tour?
Writing and recording. The 3rd record is pretty much written. Maybe a song or two more to go then figuring the label situation and then getting into thr studio again hopefully with Jaret and making the best record of our lives!
Is there anything else you'd like to add or promote?
