So how do you describe the music?
Dave: We are the best of everything good about rock put together!
Ben: Or, a modern twist on classic rock. That's catchy isn't it?
What can we expect from future albums? Anything different to “Ice Age”?
Ben: We’re working on a nine-minute rock anthem at the moment. It’s a two minute bongo intro which should be quite interesting… and an orchestra… nothing big and pretentious like- honest.
Carl: A bit of soft acoustic in there too.
Ben: You know “Kashmir” by Led Zeppelin? It’ll hopefully be a modern version of that.
Generally, what is the reaction to your shows from the audience?
Carl: Very good.
Ben: Good, we try to rock and have a good time on stage- more often than not the audience really gets into it!
Paul: But it does depend on where we’re playing, really.
Ben: Yeah, but most of the time we do get good positive feedback.
OK, here’s a good one, if you had free tickets to any celebrity wrestling match, who would you go see and why?
Dave: Gerrard Houllier. We hate him.
Jon: Vs? Dave: Mike Tyson.
Ben: I’d like to see Jarvis Cocker and a chainsaw against all the Kaiser Chiefs.
Will: They've got pointy shoes though, those Kaisers.
Jon: And who’d win?
Will: Jarvis and the chainsaw, I guess.
Kirsty: Jarvis easily. He's a force, that man.
Right, the big question – what is your favourite cheese?
Paul: Mature cheddar, easily. With pikelets.
Will: Anything cheddar-y really.
Ben: Dairy lea!
Carl: What the bloody hell are pikelets?
Kirsty: Ah you've got to know pikelets! Butter and cheese, man?
Carl: No... What the..?
Jon: Shall we move on for now?
Favourite swearword?
Will: Fuck?
Paul: Actually, no, I like a twist on that – “Feck”.
Dave: “Feck”.
Paul: You can say Feck in front of anyone!
Ben: Arse!
If you had to convert to any religion what would it be?
Ben: Buddhism- don’t really know much about it but it sounds cool!
Carl: Thought you’d say that.
Will: My own.
Jon: Your own religion?
Will: Yeah. I have my own religion.
Paul: Willism?
Ben: Can we create our own religion? We’ll all be the Gods of our own religion… Polarianism. Want to be our first follower?
Jon: Yeah, I’ll be a disciple, spread the word of Polarianism!
Right, what festival would you love to play, or where do you dream of playing?
Carl: American Ozzfest.
Paul: I want to play at Download.
Will: You know that one in Mexico? Is it? The big concerts around there.
Carl: Rio?
Will: Rio, that’s the one.
Ben: The Red Square in Russia- Metallica can support us!!
Kirsty: Vodka country. Easy.
Your number one favourite album of all time?
Dave: “Insides” by Orbital.
Will: OK Computer.
[Jon practically screams in agreement]
Carl: “Rocked” by Aerosmith
Paul: Metallica – The Black Album
Ben: Appetite for destruction- G’N’R
Favourite curry? Paul: Chicken Chat
Dave: Chicken what, sorry?
Paul: Chat.
Carl: Um… Chicken Kashmir.
Dave: Hold the Kashmir! I’m a vegetarian, so any curry with vegetables will do me.
How did you all get together in the first place?
Ben: On our website.
Will: That’s a very rock ‘n roll answer that is…
Ben: I am the definition of Rock ‘n’ Roll!
You know those little straws that are spoons? What are they called?
Kirsty: I think they should be called Stroons
Paul: Or the other way round – a spaw.
Dave: Do you know what BMW stands for?
Carl: Yes!
(Ben sighs at disbelieve with how un-rock ‘n’ roll Dave is)
Jon: No?
Dave: Go on then…
Carl: No you tell him – moment of glory!
Dave: Bavarian Motor Works …there you go!
Paul: Think of some more… Go on Will, your go...
Will: Bugger.
Who are your least favourite bands?
Dave: Tell you who we don’t like – the most overrated band… The Beatles.
Kirsty: Y'think? Controversial.
Will: Kaiser Feckin’ Chiefs.
Carl: Maximo Park.
Ben: Arctic Monkeys. Very overrated. There’s a lot of crap bands around at the moment- no originality.
Carl: We’re a breath of fresh air.
Ben: I should say so, we’re everything that’s good about rock (tongue in Cheek!)
Most underrated band?
Dave: Pearl Jam.
Carl: Monster Magnet.
Paul: I’m gonna go with Skid.
Will: The Cult, yeah.
Ben: Easy- apart from the mighty Polarian, it’d have to be Tool.
Who’s this on now?
Will: Our mates – a band called ‘Two Days Made’
Dave (Two Days Made Vocalist): We’re on soon.
Ben: No way – can we go?
Paul: Are we done?
John: Yep, all finished.
Ben: Sorry, these guys rock- we gotta go support them- cheers!
[Polarian get their groove on to the crowd to watch Two Days Made]
