The Vincent Black Shadow

The Vincent Black Shadow are an alternative band which consists of lead vocalist Cassandra Ford, brothers Rob Kirkham on guitar, Anthony Kirkham on drums, and Chris Kirkham on bass. The group is from Vancouver, Canada and has had 2 albums the first called fears in the water and the seconds called El monstruo. 

You guys have been around for a while, your first album did quite well, what's next for you? 

We have released our sophomore album EL MONSTRUO independently, through our websitewww.tvbsmusic.com. We did a fall tour in US to support the release. 

What are your favourite songs to play live? 

Fears In The Water, Last Few Minutes, Control, Moon Cake. 

What was your favourite video to shoot? 

Fears in the Water, we shot it in Atlanta on an off day of the warped tour. 

Your songs seem dark on the album 'Fears in the water' is there a reason behind that style? 

No intentional reason, the songs at points has a darker feel but at the same time remain upbeat. 

Do you think that the UK is ready for you guys? I know that you have had the chance to support other bands here, how about a headline tour? 

We have done 2 lengthy UK tours with Kosheen, and Silverstien, the UK is a strange market to break, we have a lot of awesome fans there and it was great to meet them on the last 2 tours. As far as a headline tour, I don’t know if that’s where we are at just yet, plus you need some decent backing, i.e.: money, to do overseas touring, especially since the pound is worth twice as much as the Canadian dollar. 

Who is the best band that you have toured with? 

We had a great time with all the bands we have toured with, who are we to judge someone else anyway, I will say that getting to watch a band like bad religion play 47 shows or something like that was pretty awesome. 

Many bands are the way they are because of a certain thing that has happened to them in their lives. Is that the case with you? 

I guess we are the way we are because we are related. 

If you had a chance to play any country in the world which would it be and why? 

We haven’t been to Japan; I think that would be great. 

If you had to be in any other band which would it be and why? 

I can only speak for myself and Guns n Roses would be the band, any line up , I don’t care, as long as Axl is there running around like a mad man. 

What are your influences and inspirations? 

To name a few, other musicians, art, movies, anything that is remotely interesting. 

Many people may compare you to Paramore, what are your thoughts on that? 

I don’t see it, maybe because our singer is female, other than that, we are nothing alike, I met the guitar dude one time, he was a nice enough guy. They wear color co-ordinated skinny pants and have the dreaded emo mullets, we don’t. 

So what’s next for The Vincent Black Shadow? 

If you have read our latest blog on our MySpace it pretty much lays it out. People are doing their own thing getting their shit together so not much coming up at the moment.
