Hello Rockpulsers !! This time I bring you an interview from the Alabama (US) band My Children My Bride that's currently touring with The Chariot. So if you like Hard/MetalCore, don't miss their gigs in UK !!

AL: My Children My Bride has been around since 2006 and like most of bands you¹ve might faced some difficulties on this beginning. Can you tell us a bit of this period? We've actually been around since 2004?
RB: But I remember back when we had to book our own shows, find our own tours, save up money to pay for recordings and the stuff we wanted. I actually used my credit cards to buy all our airfare to europe in 2007. Those were the good ole days!
AL: On some resources you've been labeled as a Christian Metal band and in 2008 the guitarist Kyle Ray had been dismissed due to his lack of faith. Do you define the band style as Hardcore/Metal or Christian Metal? And what¹s the role of your religious view into your music?
RB: We are a "Christian" band due to the members of the band having faith in Christ. We kind of had a "mid-life band crisis" when Kyle was dismissed. We realized that we can't continue without everyone being on the same level. And we wanted to announce the dismissal of Kyle because of his lack of faith so that we would be held accountable.Kyle understood what we wanted. He's always respected our beliefs.
AL: How's the feeling by having such a successful debut album as "Unbreakable"? Have you felt pressured after such great selling (30 thousand copies just in US) when it comes to the following up "Lost"?
RB: The feeling is great. Ive never had a kid, but I'd feel it's on par with watching your child grow up and be successful. Not the least bit. Records don't sell anyway so i didn't have that in my head as we wrote Lost Boy. But if we stayed on the same cycle time as Unbreakable, Lost Boy would just about double those sales. But we are already writing for our next record. Hoping to record by fall.
AL: What similarities the band points from Unbreakable to Lost? And what are the band's improvements on this period?
RB:Every artist strives for creating something new and refreshing that will push your boundaries. I'd never want to make the same record twice. You will always find similarities in each record we put out but nothing that seems like a rip off of our own songs. The difference between the two records is that Lost Boy has a structure. We tried to focus on writing a proper song. Songs with intros, chorus' and verses and outros. We had never done that before. All I know is that we are ready for this next record. Older fans will love it.
AL: When it comes to composing what comes first: the melody or the lyrics? What¹s every member¹s contribution during the recording process?
RB:Matthew does all the lyrics. During the recording process of Lost, a dear friend of ours, Josh Scoggin, hung out in the studio with us and helped Matthew structure some songs.
AL: What are the main goals for MCMB now?
RB:The same as its always been. To reach as many fans as possible. To hopefully help these kids get through any hard times they may have just as well as to the kids who just want to party and enjoy our music.
AL:You have strong guitars and aggressive guttural vocals. What bands inspired you at first so you could get to such level nowadays?
RB:The list goes on and on. Rhapsody was a big influence on our first record as well as Hatebreed. Darkest Hour, Rob Zombie, Slipknot,Linkin Park...i could go on and on.
AL: All of these years of struggle you've faced some members changing. What MBMC considers the best about it, I mean in terms of learning?
RB:Touring is the number one struggle that forces member changes. It's like having 5 roommates in a studio apartment for years. I don't think I can name a band that hasn't had a member change. Besides the Beatles haha!
AL:Is the current line up the best to define what music you make? Why?
RB:Definitely. It's the line that created Lost Boy. So technically it is the best since we all wrote it.
AL:The Unbreakable's tour has taken two years. How's been such experience for the band? What was the hardest
about being on the road for so long?
RB:Touring in support for Unbreakable was great. I met so many amazing people and we toured with so many great bands. The hardest part is when we would do 3 consecutive tours with no breaks.
AL:How you define the Lost album? What track the band likes the most to perform?
RB:It's what we wanted to create. I'd say Terra Firma isthe one most kids get pumped on.
AL: Now My Children My Bride are about to tour around UK. What are the main expectations regarding to this?
RB:All i know is great time are ahead! We are fortunate enough to have a bus on this tour. So it'll be nothing but hang outs.
AL: You're going to tour with The Chariot. Can you tell us a bit about this invitation for tour?
RB:Well we've known those dudes for a long time. It was only a matter of time before we toured together. We are actually on tour with them right now on Haste The Day's farewell tour.
AL: What our readers can expect from My Children My Bride concerts here in UK? Could you leave a message to them?
RB: Expect a great show! We will be playing tons of songs from Unbreakable as well as Lost Boy. It'll be a great experience so come out and hang out with us!
Thanks a lot for Mr. Turner and Robert Bloomfield for making this interview possible!! - Ana Leary
