FOUR STAR MARY

Interview by Jess via email on March 5th, 2004

Four Star Mary Live

Four Star Mary are well known for being the 'house band' in the hit cult show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, playing Oz's band 'Dingoes ate my Baby' in the earlier series of the show. I got the chance to ask guitarist Crazy Derrick some questions. Read on to find out about moles, Christmas traditions and who the hottest Slayer is.

What has been the highlight for you of 2003?

Getting that huge mole removed from my back. Literally, such a weight off my shoulders!

How did the band meet?

I was homeless living in my car and I saw the guys play a show in Malibu.

You were featured on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", providing the music for Oz's band, "Dingoes Ate My Baby". How did this come about and would you say that this was one of your 'breaks' as a band?
Steve was walking the streets of Hollywood one night, you know "workin", and this guy picks him up and is all, "yo, you in a band?" and Steve was like "Fur sure!". And the rest is history...

Are any of you fans of the Buffy show?

No... I'm a purist, I prefer the Swanson Buffy, She was much hotterer than Sarah.

What is the band currently up to?

Recording... Oh ya, and a lot of "no good".

What do you think you'd be doing right now if you weren't in FSM?

Porn.

What did you do for Christmas?

I was crazy uncle Derrick. I have two nephews that rule!!!

Do you have any traditions that you do every year?

We dress Zu in this really cute monkey outfit and throw pennies at him while he dances around the room. He really seems to enjoy it...

What kind of music are you listening to at the moment?

Some band from the bay area that straight up ripped off Filter. But they did it really well.

Are there any new and upcoming bands you think the UK should know about?

The High Speed Scene.

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

It would be more Derrick friendly.

What has the band got planned for 2004?

World domination... Mwah.... Mwahhahhhahhhaaaaaa!!!

Thanks a lot to Crazy Derrick for the interview! Check out www.fourstarmary.com for more info.
