JEREMIAH FREED
Interview by Suzi via email on January 30th, 2004
Kerry Ryan Live
Drummer Kerry Ryan answers Suzi's questions.
You released a new album "slowburn" in august,
what's the reaction been like?
The reaction has been quite good, with our local
sales nearly
surpassing anything we did with the last album and EP
put together. We are
very pleased that our fans are still interested in what
we are doing, as we
continue to change sonically as a band. It proves
these people are
ultimately fans of the writing, which has only grown
with us over time.
What have you guys been up to recently, has it all
been fun?
We've basically just been a hard-working rock
group for the last few
months -- writing and practicing, playing and
recording, and most
everything in between. And thats always a source of
enjoyment for all of
us... and of course we manage to get a good dose of
real fun as well. As
for the future, we'll keep our current schedule until
we have another album
of material and we will put that out, hopefully on a
larger scale than we've
done before.
Apart from playing music, what else do you guys like to do?
There isn't much else to do this time of year in
Maine -- which might
explain the high proportion of basement musicians. I
like to get outdoors
as much as possible, despite the cold. We snowboard
and ice skate.. stuff
like that.
What's the longest length of time you guys have been
touring non-stop for?
Probably 2 months straight without a trip back
home to clean
ourselves up.
Is there anything about another bandmate which
annoys you?
No one in my band is half as annoying as most of
the people I run
into everyday.
What do you like most about being in a band?
Coming together with four people to make some
music while we all
happen to be alive.
What have you been playing on your CD player
recently?
Oh.. Grand Funk Railroad, T Rex, The Darkness.
What / who do you think inspires your music?
I think that we are all inspired to help people
let loose and have
fun. We want them all to be dancing and singing along
together. We want to
give them a place for people to escape and be free to
enjoy life. And of
course we want to give them some blistering guitar
solos too.
Is there anything you would like to add to the end
of the interview?
Glad to be a part of your website!
Thanks a lot to Kerry for the interview. Check out their site at www.jeremiahfreed.com.
