Fonzie - Wake up Call

Review by Ellen

Fonzie are a four piece band out of Lisbon who fit comfortably in the punk/pop rock genre. The band have been working hard and have travelled far and wide to help in the promotion of their new second album "Wake up Call".

They have already toured places such as Belgium, Japan, Germany, South America, Australia and Italy. So far in their career one of their most impressive moments to date has been sharing a stage with the likes of Slipknot, Jimmy Eat World, Soulfly, Nickleback and Therapy. Already having released a first album "Built to rock," Fonzie have proceeded to release a second, proving that they are more determind than ever.

On face value the guys may not look all that, however do not underestimate what they have to offer - like the old saying "Never judge a book by it's cover". Personally I'm not a great fan of punk/pop rock bands, but unusually I did find "Wake up Call" refreshing and enjoyable regardless of it's stereotypical form. All twelve tracks are catchy, hyper happy fun tunes with infectious lyrics, providing that summer cruising mood and a desperate yearning for summer's speedy arrival when the festival season can begin (in particular track 3).

I was impressed and suprised by Fonzie and I think many others will be too. Yellow card, Simple plan, Less that Jake, and other groups similar to these are who you can relate the guys to. Overall if you consider yourself a fan of punk/pop rock then you should consider adding this album to your collection.
