Daytime TV, why so sad?

Article by Nik

Having been on holiday for a week now, it has to be said that I have over indulged in my TV viewing, especially the music channels.

Now, I love the fact that you get a variety of choice on Sky. 29 music stations to choose from are not bad at all. But my word, the big wigs at these broadcasting houses need to look in to spicing up daytime viewing. It is DULL, DULL, DULL!!!!

For example I have seen the same episode of ‘Pimp My Ride’ playing at least four times on four different channels and at this moment ‘Hogan Knows Best’ (I don’t understand why they commissioned this show, but they did) is on marathon, AGAIN!!

I understand that to make a TV show seem worth while making, you have to show it. But, show it once every six months, minimum, if it is a series, don’t kill it in the first month it is aired.

If it’s not repeats, it’s the shocking adverts for ring tones. How fed up am I hearing the same adverts over and over again, during the same bloody ad breaks, its ridiculous.

Same with the music videos they show, don’t just show the same fifty every day, this is not just one channel I am talking about, it’s a few of them, there are a lot of quality music video’s out there we never see any more, BRING THEM BACK, if you can’t think of anything else to do. If not, start taking risk’s again with programmes you are making.

What happened to the quality cartoons? Where are the really bad (yet, compulsive viewing) game shows? Where are all the programmes you can quote form when you are with your mates? They’re not there anymore, instead we have old ‘celebs’ trying to cash in on the reality TV limbo we are stuck in.

Lifestyles are changing, people are starting to work different hours, it’s not just 9 – 5, every day, five days out of seven, weekend’s off. Society is no longer like that; there are people at home during the day time that would like to be entertained.

As for other channels’ daytime viewing, don’t get me started………
