After so many years it’s only logical that a band may want to alter their sound in some way, this of course tends to divide opinion and the news of such changes tends to cause panic in the hearts of the die-hard fans. Therapy? Fans need not worry though as Crooked Timber is an utterly brilliant piece of alt-rock. Andy Cairns’ lyrics are delightfully odd yet understandable; they really encourage any listener to actually take notice of every musical aspect of the album, rather than just bop along to the beats.

Crooked Timber is filled with an assortment of moods, the quirky ‘Enjoy the Struggle’ and ‘The Head That Tried to Strangle Itself’ are amusing to say the least. While ‘Magic Mountain’ is a totally unexpected and joyous instrumental track, many will be displeased with the track nears reaching ten minutes but it will no doubt end up becoming a favourite track for some. A serious and darker tone does loom in this alternative oddity, namely in the form of ‘Exiles’, an immensely haunting track. Time really isn’t taking its toll on Therapy?.
